Gitzo GB3560 ???

Does anyone know anything about the gb3560 boompole? I can't find any reviews about it anywhere. I can still get the g7680c. Should I just go for that? The price difference isn't that great, so I'm not too concerned about which one is more expensive. I'm just wondering if one is significantly better than the other. Thanks.

from what I understand the 3560 is the successor to the 7680 - I'd get the 3560 myself - doesnt it have the new g-lock collars on it?

MattinSTL said that the new gitzo pole was nice from what he saw this year at NAB. I am not sure if that is the model number he was talking about, but I assume it is.

I really love my g7680c. Thanks Matt!

Just got it. First impressions:
Its very lightweight (as one would expect from a carbon fiber build)
Extends to 12' which is plenty of reach for a boompole
There is some flex with the boom at full extension

I never had the G7680c so I can't compare but this one is quite nice. The locking mechanism is pretty good with a tight fit.

Not the most in-depth or scientific review but I would recommend it especially for its price.

For the record this was a prediction... I didn't go to NAB. A member sent me an email in somewhat of a panic that they couldn't find a 7680c... and I said, "don't sweat it, I'm sure Gitzo will announce a replacement pole at NAB... and by past experiences the Gitzo poles are getting better in each generation, not worse".

So far I have yet to check out one of the new Gitzo poles, but again, I'm sure they're really nice for the money.

I have a K-Tek graphite pole and the Gitzo 7680c... and while I like both poles for what each does, there's no doubt the Gitzo could stand to lose a few ounces... which is what I think happened in the newest Gitzo release.

Cool, thanks for the input guys. I'm buying one right now. Found it at www.microsearch.com for $248.09 after shipping, which is about 25 bucks cheaper than on amazon. I've never used these guys before and haven't been able to find too many reviews on them, so I'm slightly wary, but I'm gonna go ahead and try it. I'll let you know if they follow through and how the pole is when I get it.

I decided I couldn't trust that site. They didn't say anything about it actually being in stock either, so I spent the few extra bucks and got it at B&H. I'll post back when I get it.

Bumping an old thread. Anyone using this boompole now? Im trying to figure out if a cable can be ran through it but it doesnt seem to state that anywhere on Gitzo's nor any of the reseller websites. I like that its a CF 12 footer and so much cheaper than a comparable K-Tec. I was also kicking around this K-Tec: LINK

Yep we got the Gitzo 3560 after doing some research on uses with various lengths etc. It's an externally cabled boom you can't run mic cables through it and it does have their excellent G lock system.

The main reasons to buy a boom that goes out to 12 foot is if you regularly need that length or .. the one time that you really do need that length you'd pay double for it.

Also bought an Alfa carry case, but you can make one from suitable plumbers pipe.

If you're a solo shooter, the boom battle changes somewhat and you might need this jigger on a stable C stand.

Cheers.
