I've had 3 of the Gitzo poles, and the one similar to yours is the only one I've kept. I prefer the K-Tek, but they don't have a similar carbon pole in your budget. Have you looked at the Cavision poles? This one also fits your budget, and you can add internal wiring if you'd like:

you might want to check out the Rycote Lightwave boompole and maybe even the Rode Boompole. These are both really cheap but well crafted, not carbon (thus a bit heavier) - really depends on what you wanna do.

I recommend K-Tek. The Gitzo poles are ok and can be very heavy. Take a look around on Ebay there are quiet a few used in good condition K-Tek poles floating around.

i have used ktek gitzo and rode. to be honest ktek has been the best.. gitzo wasnt too bad at all either. but as for the rode i had mine for 6 months until it snapped mid take, so id never buy another one of them again
