does anyone know if it is possible to output files from an FCP timeline as a moving GIF? If so, how?

I don't believe it is possible using FCP alone. There are options to export as an image sequence, etc. and then other programs could construct the .gif. May I ask why you're trying to do this?

yeah, I'm trying to make moving GIFs for marketing purposes. Sort of like the marketing GIFs at the top of this screen...you know, flashing titles etc..I realize I may be going about it the wrong way,but I dont know the right way-

Do you have photoshop or other similar level photo editing software? Those should be able to output gif's from an image sequence exported from FCP.
