Ghosting problem on my footage

Hi guys.

Need help. I have a "ghosting effect" problem with my footage which makes it look like this (note this is a low red screen grab from vimeo - a dvx user member alerted me to the problem and when I checked my original footage in vegas, I saw it too) :( : I saw it in more than one spot and more than one scene... Have not had the time to check every scene and really figure out how often I see this ghosting effect, but I know it's there and it is a problem.

I am to send footage to Germany for a CGI crash shot they are doing for me and they noticed the problem in what I initially sent them and are asking for me to fix it before so they can finish their CGI work - so this is urgent .

I think the scene was shot at 1/24 shutter speed but not sure... Could that do it or is it a setting in Vegas that I did not get right?

I FILM WITH HVX200 IN 720-24PN mode and use vegas and raylight - and as far as I know I set up the project property in vegas according to the raylight specifications...

But maybe we should go over them again?

What should my project property be?

THANK YOU !!!

1/24 shutter can cause a blur, but that's not it. That's ghosting.

Did you export as 30p for any reason? Or anything involving 29.97?

Does it only happen on every 6th or 7th frame?

I will check on it tonight and let you guys know.

David: I can see it in my vegas project - so it is not a rendering issue. I will look at my project setting and post them here tonight, along with above question answer.

THANK YOU!!!

I'm having the same ghosting effect (however, it's in the rendered file), with the Vegas 9, and Red footage right now. Crazy odd, though I'm not having the issue you're currently having (HVX + <Vegas 9)

FIGURED IT OUT:

When I change the playback rate of a clip (say I use the velocity curve or change the clip property's play back rate to make it look slow mo or faster) it creates MAJOR GHOSTING. I counted that 6 out of 7 frames had ghosting on them :(( - so one clean frame and 6 corrupted ones.

HOW DO WE FIX THIS????

Sometimes it is nice to have the option to speed up or slow down in post. but with this ghosting problem it ruins everything.

What's the solution here?

OK, you didn't mention the velocity change.

The BEST way to go about it is to use the variable frame rates in-camera.

But for the footage you've already shot, you can try right-clicking and choose "disable resample."

Ideally, use a playback rate of 50% if you want slo-mo.
