Ghost Editing

Does anybody do this? Have companies send their raw files, you edit, then send back a finished product?

If so how? I have a ton of server space (50gb) online and was thinking they could either upload via ftp or send me a hard drive/dvd of the raw footage.

Anybody have any opinions?

I have tried editing projects with little or no instruction from the original creator, and its extremely difficult to figure out what they where trying to do with every shot etc etc.

I usually work off DV tapes, either that or portable HDDs that they send me. I would have thought that transferring the files online would be a fairly inefficient and expensive way to go about it.
