Ghetto rigging my greenscreen

Hey guys and gals

I have a music video shoot on Tuesday and I am building my own greenscreen - What is the best fabric/material to use? I plan on getting something large enough that I can attach with hooks to my ceiling and rollout for some full body green screen work - thanks a lot!

Can you scrape together $99 for a background stand? Adorama (or B&H). The set is two light stands with a 10' collapsible pole to support the background.

And a roll of background paper is $40. I'm sure they have chroma key colors.

I dunno what they use for video, but for photog that's the hookup, and I bet its the same stuff for video.

You'll probably spend more on fabric trying to make your own and end up with a nightmare both in production and in post.

Whatever you make it out of, make sure you light it correctly because the greenscreen has a be a completely uniform green, or enough to get away with (you've got to be pretty careful because you want full body). That means a couple diffused sources on the greenscreen itself, and if you have some green gels throw them on those (I've found this helps immeasurably). Then backlight your subjects to separate them from the background. Finally, you probably want to throw some light on their faces, i.e. keylight them. Just make sure it comes in at enough of an angle (from the side, or real high/low) that their keylights don't spill onto the greenscreen. I hope I've been a bit of a help.
