Ghetto Motorized Pulley

I have a couple sliders and I'd like to buy a cheap ghetto motorized pulley contraption for them. As long as the thing spins up and pulls in some string very slowly (fishing line?) I'll be satisfied. Bonus points if it can pull in a wee bit of weight.

What are my options?

If you want to do something DIY, check out Servocity.com. They have a lot of bits (motors, pulleys, belts, controllers) to allow you to do most anything. Do not use servo motors (RC motors). They are noisy and jerky. Use gearhead motors.

Servos that have the limits removed are nothing different from gearhead motors with a pwm controller. That said, Servo City has a bunch of stuff configured for this type of use, I think they make more money going for photo/video builders than they do RC hobbiests.

Attach your string to a battery powered variable speed drill. Use star bits of various diameters which will affect speed if you have a single speed drill.

I could get something from Servo City but it looks like I'll have to assemble it. I can do that no problem, but I don't know which parts I need. Is there some kind of kit/package that has everything already? The drill idea seems better since it's just buy it and be done with it.
