GH5s? New low light monster?

43rumors said something about this a few weeks ago...supposedly there is a big Panasonic event on December 15th where they may reveal more info (another rumor).

I will throw my hat in this ring. These are just rumors but I think would be a chance for Panasonic to remedy its autofocus problem with the GH5. Lets face it, the GH5 would be the perfect small video tool if it had awesome AF. It does not. The new G9 camera Panasonic just released does. So I think this new camera is a GH5 with the G9 sensor, processing abilities and phase detect auto focus.

The autofocus is the only thing giving me pause about moving to the GH5. I hope this rumor is true. I also hope they would get the HFR up to 240 fps to match the Sony RX 10 series. Then this camera would be a slam dunk for me.

The low-light version probably would have a sensor with less MPs (meaning it wouldn't be the G9 sensor).

It may be a bit tougher waiting for the camera to actually ship if it does get announced (guessing another 2-3 months).

From the 43Rumors post it sounds like this is going to be a more expensive GH5, which might push the price into the $2,500 - $3,000 US range. I was already planning on getting another GH5 and would be willing to pay more if it delivers even better results than the GH5 already does. ( very happy with my GH5, but willing to pay for even higher performance )

Considering I'm still shooting with the GH4 and have been considering a GH5 purchase in the next 3-6 months, this is a timely rumor.
Even if it only bumps down the price of the current GH5, that's a benefit.

Ah, the wonders of the internet. How does an F3 rumor suddenly acquire a real physical presence, and then spreads around the globe to become a $10k GH29....? :love4:

Meanwhile, on another forum the rumor is that perhaps AF100 or DVX200 replacements are coming.

Or perhaps Panasonic will announce all three and wipe out the competition in the lower end market. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Clever Panasonic

I am always happy to support companies who have the courage to improve their products and charge more for them. These camera features are really meant for professional work so paying an extra $500-$1000 to have a more complete camera that is not prosumer is worth it to me.
