GH5 4K 10bit 4.2.2 ???

Just received my new GH5 and have found that qt 7.7.9 and movie studio 13 & 14 will not show or edit 10bit 4.2.2 footage. It just shows a green bar for the space in the video line. Kind of surprised me as this is the first time I've had a codec issue since 2011. Movie Studio has always been ahead of the curve on this sort of thing since VMS10 or so :)

Anyone know if Vegas 14 Pro can eat GH5 footage ???

Cheers,
Pete

You might want to try the free version of DaVinci Resolve 12.5. I've heard that it had no problems with 10-bit GH5 footage.

Thanks TheDingo, downloading it already :)

I would love to be able to output 4K projects at some point though. Since most. if not all my filming is hobby project, the upgrade there is pretty steep though :(

Cheers, Pete

Resolve says to install a cuda card on startup and crashes when a 10bit 4.2.2 file is dropped in the edit timeline and closes. My computer is an older windows 10 i7-920 16meg ram machine with an older GTX260 card. Need to bite my tongue here as I was always the one laughing at folks with apples and lower end machines when 1080-60p footage first showed up in 2010. Now I'm the one sniveling about the bleeding edge. Hahahahaha paybacks are a ***** :)

HDCinematics Convert V4 should be able to convert that stuff to something you can handle. ffmpeg/ffmbc can probably do it to, just need to fiddle with command line or find a gui.

Thanks Greg_E, I'll check those out.

Hoping quicktime and Movie Studio sort it out sooner than later. I'd rather shoot 4K 60p which it recognizes for now and worry about 10 bit later rather than having to transcode. In any case with the new color science, slow motion and sensor stabilization, it's readily apparent straight away this thing is worth the upgrade !!!

Cheers, Pete

Turns out quicktime was only an issue with much older versions of VMS and current versions of sound forge audio studio that is not the issue. Still no word from Magix on their forums either.

Richy, I haven't had much time to dig around yet to try some of the other software suggested.

Get check in if I see anything.

Cheers, Pete
