Wondering if anyone has seen a video comparing the GH3 to the AF100 or C100? I checked around a bit on vimeo and this forum but couldn't find anything.

Thanks.

You could end up waiting a long time to find a comparison video for these three cameras...

My impressions from using two of these cameras ( GH3 and AF100 ), and looking at native 1080 HD footage shot with the C100 camera, are as follows...

C100
- Produces extremely sharp footage, with almost no moire or aliasing.
- Maintains 12 stops of dynamic range right up to 20,000 ISO
- Compact camera, that can run all day on 2 or 3 batteries.
- Proper XLR audio inputs
- Locking HDMI video output

GH3
- Produces good image, but aliasing can be a problem if the image has lots of very fine details.
- I am guessing, but it appears to have 9+ stops of dynamic range at low ISO speeds. ( may require post-processing to pull the full dynamic range from the recorded image )
- Compact camera, that can run all day on 2 or 3 batteries.
- 3.5mm audio input, will require adapters and pre-amps to use with professional audio gear
- HDMI video output

AF100
- Produces good image, but sacrifices a little detail to produce an image with next to no aliasing or moire in the recorded image.
- It appears to have 8+ stops of dynamic range at low ISO speeds. Camera settings are really important to producing the best image from this camera.
- Compact camera, that can run all day on 3+ batteries.
- Proper XLR audio inputs
- SDI, HDMI, and Composite video outputs

...If money is no object, I would buy the Canon C100 and a few high quality Canon L lenses, otherwise it's a tough decision to choose between the AF100 and the GH3. I chose the GH3 because I also shoot still photos and am willing to live with the audio compromises of the GH3. I am hoping that Panasonic introduce a higher performance replacement for the AF100 ( not the AF100A ) in 2013, so I could still use my M4/3 lenses on a new professional body.

I have an AF100 and 60D already. Looking to pick up a 3rd camera in 2013 and wondering if the GH3 would be a good A-cam (image-wise) for my AF100 projects.

I could use the AF100 for sound recording and for a B-cam in that case.

I think you won't know this until you start shooting with a GH3. Worst case scenario is the GH3 becomes the B-cam to your AF100. For the price, I don't think there's a better camera to go with your AF100.

I don't see the gh3 with only 9 stop of DR. In the Zacuto test the Canon cameras where credited with a little more than 11 stop of DR and the Af100 at 10.2 stop ( http://nofilmschool.com/2011/06/zacuto-unleashes-great-camera-shootout-2011/ ) and from the footage I have seen the gh3 has better DR than the 5d mark 3.

The D800 has been measured at 11.9 stop in video in what is called the BBC test. It is not as if because a camera is a dslr it must be systematically lower than other cameras. But if you have the money and no need of 60 fps 1080p, the C100 would be a better all rounder. It seems that you should also plan the budget for an evf with the C100.
