Hello. We are making a 90 minute film. Like everyone else, we have a small budget. We understand that we are very limited. We have spent many many hours reading blogs and forums and we know that our solution won´t be the most orthodox. Here are our questions:
1. We are under the impression that a pre-amp is very important. Is it possible to connect a pre-amp to a recorder? The idea is to have 2 mics XLR along with the recorder´s field mics at the same time and to use the pre-amp´s amp. Or alternatively, is it possible to use a good amp but cheap (because it doesn´t have XLR) like the Juicelink DS214 with a recorder, using it´s XLR, and record all the audio with the camera?
2. The other idea is to use the camera to record all the audio. That is, 2 XLR from the pre-amp and take the field mic from the recorder and connect it to the pre-amp. We know that this option would make life easier during post-production however at the expense of quality. If this isn´t possible, another idea is to connect the pre-amp to the camera and then add the audio from the field mic in post-production.
Thank you very much. We hope that you can make some sense of our confusion!
