GG Option

ReneH

Are you planinng to use it on a 'mini 35 type adapter'?
I think that it is a diffusion filter, meant to diffuse an image going through it towards the camera. I dont think it is the same with a 'focusing screen' type of material where the image is 'captured' (for lack of a better word) on the densely diffused material and your camera records whats projected on that material from the other side. The one on your link allows the image to pass through.

Just my opinion, hope its accurate.

teddybear you are exactly right. ReneH its actually quite easy to make your own ground glass, either to go your local glass shop and ask for some scrap first, and then either get some 1500 grit aluminum oxide online or get some 1000, even 1500 grit sandpaper at either autozone or a auto shop or even get a very fine sharpening stone, with the sandpaper and shaprening stone make sure to use some sort of lubricant, vegetable oil anything. But take your piece of glass, make sure to mask one side with tape its easier to grip, but start in a circular motion and contiune till the glass is completely opaque and even. It takes me roughly 30 minutes to complete from start to finish. But i find that if you use the aluminum oxide and start with a 600 grit then go to the 1500 for final it saves you about 15 minutes, but with the aluminum oxide the key is glass on glass. Take a little of the oxide with lubricant and sandwich it between to pieces of glass and just rub away in a ciruclar motion, this will allow for the finest grain and least imperfections since your using both perfectly flat surfaces. If you need any help or have any questions please message me.

Guys,

I tried the oxide grit and I did create the gg, by using a 55mm uv lens, but the glass came out with some deep scratches! I ruined it! At this point, I'm not sure if doing the process again will improve my chances! LOL! has anyone had better success at creating one without scratching it? If so what are your fees!?! I think I need help. Yikes!

Yes, I had intended to use the Hoya 52mm Diffuser Glass Filter for my mini35 adapter.
