Getting the look!

I notice with a lot of projects that are posted in this section, all the work for the most part looks really good. However, I know that lighting and filters can enhance a look not to mention adding more filters and color correction in post.

I am wondering why my 24P footage doesn't look the same as what is posted on here. Don't get me wrong, it does look good but some of the work I have seen posted on here looks so crisp and clean.

So are you all adding more filters to your projects in the compression phase? Using Magic Bullet or other film look plug ins?

What specific projects on here are you seeing that you think look really cool/smooth?

I agree, though, that you should post some stills so we can see what you're doing/trying to do.

haha

i know what you mean about getting the "look" by the way. i have wondered that myself.

Yea I am gonna half to post some stuff so I can show you all. I pretty much have my scene settings down the way I want things to look but you know what....a lot of what I shoot is outdoors on location in the sun. So that might be why I am trying to compare my footage to what is being posted on here. I'll try to post some work soon.

Shooting out doors under direct sun light (Sun overhead) isn't the most flattering unless you have a decent amount of grip equipment (a big butterfly and some bounce at a minimum) to help and even then, it will only help so much. The time of day that you choose to shoot will be the biggest factor in helping you get good looking exterior shots.

Post some grabs and see what type of comments you get from the users here.
