Getting started

I have a question, I shot 13 hours of dv at the f5(PA setting) with the ag200 anamorphic lens attachment. I want the widescreen output of course. I'm going to edited on Final Cut 4.5 HD. My output is going to be something I can hand to festivals and have it viewed at the best possilbe quality. I would like to keep the option, to print to film, open. I read these boards and apple final cut boards looking for settings. Should I trash the prefs? I need to know log and batch settings prefs and audio video prefs. I'm working with a dual 533mz G4 and 160gb of free space, 896 ram, Agvx100a, JVC TM910su (on my radeon vide there is a S-video input/output can I hook the monitor up to that) and bunch of tapes. I will completely trash my system just to make sure before I start that the footage was capture correctly and outputed correctly. Thanks

Re: Getting started

Capture using the NTSC 48Khz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown removal setting. Don't capture over timecode breaks, it is best to log each clip separately. If your machine isn't powerful enough to remove the pulldown on the fly, then capture normal NTSC 48Khz, highlight your clips after they are captured, and use the "Removed Advanced Pulldown" option in the Tools menu.

Since you shot with the anamorph adapter, put a checkmark in the "Anamorphic" column for each of your clips. Edit in Anamorphic 23.98fps sequences, and then output to MPEG2 using compressor and use DVD Studio Pro to make your final DVD.

This workflow will maintain the highest quality possible.

Unless you are OS9, there is no need to trash preferences also.
