hey all,

i have very little space on my hard drive and would like to get rid of several gigs of unused clips. this may seem like a silly question, but how do i get rid of clips that i don't need anymore? also, my final sequence is taken from many of the larger clips that i don't need anymore. can i get rid of the clips without screwing up my final sequence?

thanks in advance

sb

Re: getting rid of unwanted cips and bins

You can delete unwanted clips by finding the project folder and going to the capture scratch, find the clips you don't want and drag them to the trash. You can not get rid of clips that are used in your sequence. Final cut is pulling its date from the raw footage to make the sequence and you can't trash untill you export your sequence, of course this will prevent you from doing further editing...

You can also get rid of clips by using the media manager. (in FCP)
Be sure to read and understand the various settings first.

I usually just go to the capture scratch and other folders in FCP and just drag those clips to the trash.

media manager is the most efficiant way to get rid of any unused clips and files. You can still work with the progect, but it will get rid of all unused clips and source material.
