Getting rid of hum...

What's the best way to get rid of hum and echos with FCP? I have soundtrack as well but can't find anything that clears it up. I want it to sound crystal.

Thanks

Well not to be snide but to paraphrase (in a positive way) crystal in crystal out.
Things that might help are mostly for DAW's not NLE's. So I don't know if any will work in FCP. THe new STP has some sort of noise reduction plugin (filter). It has mixed reviews but it will work with FCP. THe high end starts with the WAVES restoration bundle and moves up to the CEDAR systems (~$1,200 - ~$6,000). Sound Soap Pro by Bias might help. These are all primarily for noise. Echo's are another matter. It is possible that the right expander will help (Elemental Audio's plugs are a good start) but there is no guarantee. If you shot your video out of focus what plugin would you use to make it "crystal" clear and sharp? Sound isn't any different. If you don't have it you don't have it and there is no magic wand that will fix it after the fact.

Try a notch filter...

This is a hum... not a hiss...??

More than likely this could be an AC noise that cycles at 60.

Turn the notch UP... loop play around a few seconds of the clip and slide the notch up and down until it gets LOUD... then when you find it, drag the notch DOWN to zero... or -64 or what ever it will let you do.

Good luck,
