Getting my film reviewed

Any suggestions where to send it? Looking for online journals that review independent films

Id like to have a few blurbs for the DVD

Thanks

Unfortunately, no real suggestions from me. There had been a link on a thread to some film blogs and I am trying to do the same thing for my documentary feature called Beat Makers and the response is pretty slow to non-existent. I think that most of the "indie" blogs are subject to the operators own personal taste which a Hip-Hop documentary doesn't seem to be part of.

Film Threat perhaps?

Film Threat is great for reviewing indie films. I have already submitted to them.

My first two features ---documentaries--- were nicely received by Film Threat and one of them -WHY NEAL- even made it to their top 10 of 2005 list.

Film Monthly is another online mag.

I also submitted to Rouge Cinema

Where do you live, Herzog?

Your first stop should be your local news media outlets--newspaper, television, and radio stations. All are good for a few blurbs. If you live in a smaller market like I do, they will jump at the chance to do a writeup about a "hometowner done good."

I once had a feature article written about me based on just a script I had written.

If you live in a larger market, try the alternative and university media rags and radio stations. They are usually more apt to run with a more non-mainstream story/film.

From there you can get the ball rolling. Get a few local rag blurbs and step up to a larger publication/website with your local media credentials to show. This may encourage someone higher up on the food chain to view your film.

Move up to a bigger entity and repeat the process.

You could also look for alternative avenues to get blurbs. Know any published authors (no matter how reputable)? In my area, there are always book signing events. Give a free copy of your film and ask a needy author to contribute a blurb. Return the favor if necessary (after all, you ARE the director/producer of SUCH AND SUCH motion picture). Aside from that, how about a film professor?

The possibilities are endless if you just get creative and use the resources in your area.
