Getting FCP to

I have a .mov encoded in h.264 that I can't to edit in FCP but when I drag the video in it says that this file type is not supported. What is the easiest way to work with a .mov in FCP? Thanks.
 
Wow. Not sure where to start here. It could be a corrupt file?

First: Can you open and view the clip in quicktime?

Second: If yes, is it really H.246 encoded? (command+i to look at the format)

Third: If yes again can you export it to another codec, preferably the one you are editing with. (export->Movie to QuickTime Movie->options->video settings->compression type->pick the format of your sequence.

Fourth: If yes, will it now work in FCP?

H264 is not an optimized format.

transcode to a "friendly" codec, otherwise you'll be rendering your life away!
