getting cheap light on subject outdoors with no power

Is there a way, besides reflectors, to get light on your subject's face outdoors? Say they're in shadow and the background is very bright. What do you guys use for lights on your subect? No-budget here so there's a good chance that you'll say, "No, you have to buy good lights and get a generator there". Which is fine. But if there are some cheap alternatives, it'd be nice to hear them.

The reality is that without HMI's (and fairly large HMI's), which require electricity, you really don't have a whole lot of options but to bounce light.

Bounce light and reflectors are really great. With a large silver like a 6x6 you can sometimes get the output of what would take a 4K or 6K HMI while costing less money, needing less people and being a lot quicker.
