Getting best possible look for web

I am using Compressor for compressing my footage for the web. When I export out of FCP my footage looks nice and crystal clear however when I compress the footage then upload to the net its not as nice looking as it was. Now I recently bought a Compressor DVD Tutorial by Ripple Training Series. I pretty much knew just about everything on that DVD. I did try some suggestive settings that have made somewhat of a difference but its not crystal clear like many videos I see uploaded to DVXuser. The settings below might be okay it might just be the hosting site I have my videos on. Currently I am using www.sharkle.com

Here are some settings I use:

Compression Type - Sorenson Video 3
Frame Rate 15
Key Frame Every 75 frames
Quality - Medium
Restrict Data to 400kbps (this is for DSL modems) around 1500 for cable modems

Audio
Q Design Music 2
Channels = Stereo
Sample Rate = 48k
Streaming = Fast Start

Geometry
320x240

If anyone sees anything that I should change or try out differently please let me know. Again I am using Compressor and can also compress using Quicktime as well.

In what way is it "not as nice looking"? The 15 fps will make motion look choppier, the 320x240 will make things look pixellated if it is enlarged. When I use compressor I just use one of the H.264 QT 7 settings, they usually turn out well.

Unless your host is recompressing the file, the only thing it affects will be the speed of download... and if they are recompressing it, it's only going to make your previously compressed file look worse.

Having watched it twice I see nothing that stands out as terrible. What differences do you see when you compare it to your original footage?

Ok do this...watch my video again then go up into the DVX100 Screen grabs section and watch the post NEW DVX MUSIC VIDEO posted by Zombiesquad. Notice how crisp and clear his images are compared to mine. I would like my work to look clear like that when I upload to the web and right now it doesnt in my opinion.

Yeah, but what size/bitrate was the "other" video done at? If yours and his were the same length, but your's half the size, then yeah the other one will look better. Sorry for stating the obvious, but I've seen this happen before. A lot of the videos you see posted here at DVXUser are at way higher than normal web publishing bit rates -- that's because people want to show their best stuff to a small audience, but you could never push out bit rates like that in a mass scaleable way because people would have to download them first before watching them for the most part. Anyway, just something to check, make sure you're comparing apples-to-apples.

Ohhh ok good point! But I have seen videos on other websites that seem to be playing out to a large audience and they look good as well...

Another question I have is what range should I try to get my compression down to for good quality for web? For example I have a 10 minute video that is 1.9 gb after compression it is 102.8 mb. The quality looks good but I have compressed other things down to like 14 mb's and some videos under that. To me, it seems the lower the number of MB's you get it, will compromise the overall quality of the video. Any truth to this?

I didnt notice any brightness with my project. Did you preview your project after plugged in all the settings before you actually compressed the footage? You may need to adjust the brightness filter before you compress your footage is my only suggestion but dont take my word for it as I am still learning this whole COMPRESSION thing!
