Getting a boom mic. Had to run this threw dvxuser fist.

Well, if you are in a rush, you can throw your money away on an inexpensive unknown piece of equipment that you will most likely be disappointed with. Alternately, you can use the search function and also read the yellow stickies to get an idea of the best solution for your need within your budget.

Agreed.

I can almost guarantee that boom pole is a total POS. It looks like the equivalent to holding a cheesy mic stand out in the air. The mic is ok, certainly not great, but it will work. Do yourself a favor and get a standard multi-section telescoping boom pole and psc shock mount. The aluminum ones are pretty cheap, especially used. I would buy a used mic too, and get something better for less.

Or, maybe the college has a better setup that you can use and you can spend money elsewhere?

i have one of those mics and never use it. IT SUCKS! I tossed about the same amount of money about a year and a half ago. Honestly the boom pole wasn't awful (though heavy) but its not good. The microphone however flat out isn't any better than whats already on the dvx onboard.
