I just upgraded my whole PC, reinstalled Windows, all the usual softwares and right away I noticed a problem. Videos that are loaded into Premiere displays very differently than on the media players. I tried everything, VLC, Windows Media Player, Media Player Classics, etc. and the colors were displayed identical across all of them but not on Premiere. The images on the various media players is noticeably more saturated. Worse, the white areas (white text, white background) are displayed as a dirty shade of gray.
It got me confused for a while but I'm almost 100% sure that Premiere is displaying the correct images and all the other players are bumping up the saturation setting somehow, which is odd because many of them don't even HAVE image control option. The problem is there across all of these different players which makes me think that it's a codec problem or somekind of wrong setting on my display.
I'm frustrated because I don't know what's causing the problem. I have a shoot coming up soon and I need to be able to view rough cut of the vids on the comp to check out the color correction. Can anyone offer any insights?
Thanks!
