Pretty sure I know the answer to this, but if I want to use a few lyrics from a well-known pop song within my short film, what are the legal ramifications? To be more specific, there's a scene where a character sings the lyrics to said song out loud to another character. I'm assuming I'd need to get permissions/rights to the lyrics? This is for a short film that may be seen in festivals and might or might not ever see limited distribution.
