General Note for those in the Lighting Forum

This is just a general statement as a result of various complaints I have been receiving.

Can everybody please try to act more mature and professional. The lighting forum as of late has become a bit overly combative from all sides of the fence.

I'm saying this as a general note to EVERYONE.

As a company, you can expect folks to post their thoughts about your products or company. Some may be legitimate gripes, others may be folks looking to stir the pot, or having a personal vendetta for some reason or another.

As a member, you are expected to post with a professional and courteous tone. If someone else is not, that is not license for you to turn around and contribute to such bad behavior. If someone is behaving in a way that you feel inappropriate (and I do mean anyone), you should report the post, or pm a moderator so they can look into it. Do not get involved in public flame wars, personal disputes, do not overreact, do not troll, do not be rude, do not misuse private messaging, do not get overly defensive.

We are all grown ups here. let's remember to act like professionals when discussing products and companies, etc, and when responding to critiques.

And, as a member representing a company, if you have a strong personality, you can expect some people to react strongly to that style as well.

If anyone has a problem with a member or a sponsor, or anyone, report the post, pm a moderator, etc. Don't behave like a 5 year old, and start trolling or flaming, or misusing pm's. Don't overreact to someone's critique of a particular product. Or, if you do, expect that there will be some folks who will not respond well to that kind of style.

Can we please all be a bit more mature, as things are getting a bit silly from all ends in the lighting forum lately.

This forum is NOT a personal soapbox for ANYONE. It's not a place where you can troll around and go on personal vendetta's or hate on a company at any opportunity. If you cannot express your critiques, views, opinions, etc in a courteous and professional manner, it would be best if you do not post them at all.

It is also not a place where people get to dictate the content of the forum. If you cannot respond to critiques of members in a professional and respectful manner, might I suggest that it is not in your best interest to respond.

Everyone take a breath and relax a bit. Things are getting a little too heated here. I will respond strongly to any further behavior I feel represents this site poorly.

Feel free to disagree, just do it in an agreeable manner.

Later,
Jason
