General Erros (-41)

Good day,

My G5 died and I had to re-install the OS Tiger), as well as FCP 5. When I wanted to open a project that I was working on, I got the message "General Error (-41)". I updated to the latest OS and FCP version, like it was before the crash but still get the message.

Any suggestion as to how to get it to work again?

Needless to say this happened in the middle if an important production..LOL

Murphy's Law, it can only happen in the middle of production. So you're getting the error on load, you can't get into the file at all?

If you have any other copies of the project (autosave vault), I would give those a whirl and see if any of them will play nice (and should have minimal, if any, loss of work).

Otherwise, try and take it over to another work station and have them do a file save as and save it out fresh. Then take the new project file home and try that one. And while they're at it, maybe have them export an XML of the project. If the project won't load, see if the XML will import at least.
