Hmm

The rain looked a little bit rendered for me... Did i get it?

(its not very noticable just a bit too perfect, some particle effect looking stuff when he jumped in puddles) or maybe its real and im just smoking too much crack these days

But - its kinda funky - you gotta admit  :P

Anyway - apologies - if its not appropiate for the forum - Im a clip addict at heart - this one struck a chord - just love a bit of rotoscoping - when its done well ;)

BTW - I think its all a real set apart with Gene's Head pasted on - it took 3 breakdancers to do all the moves ( so I read )

Oh yeah I admit a ton of time was put into it, and the average joe wouldn't notice. Hell I MIGHT not have noticed had you not hinted that something was done to it in post in that sense

Damn! I knew it! I was second guessing myself wondering if they had rotoscoped his head onto some breakdancers (that dudes ass when he jumps up the light pole looked a little too firm to me... for whatever reason... don't ask)

But I thought they must have just found a freakishly similar looking person for the close ups and the breakdancers who looked like him from far away for the actual stunts

So I guess Gene Kelly's image and likeness are public domain now. It's somewhat strange when you think about it. Gene had no say in this, just like John Wayne had no say in being put into commercials. Despite that it's still a pretty cool ad.

This was great! I didn't expect him to start busting out oldschool. If I were to play this clip in Cambodia, I don't think they will even notice. People there are still trippin over smeagol from lordoftherings. They think he's real. ;)

Wild...Is it me or does some of that dancing look a little mechanical as in cg perhaps?

That's a little bit creepy. Did you read the fine print at the beginning? It said Gene Kelly Imaging Trust. I guess that's the thing to do if you're a famous actor--set up your imaging trust before you die, to manage the licensing of your digital likeness. At some point you'll be able to cast any film actor that ever lived in your next movie. I bet a lot of stars will be much more affordable after they've died. :)
