Gears for 35mm lenses

Has anyone used "press on gears" on slr lenses with a follow focus and their 35mm adaptor ? I know that redrock, zacuto, indifocus, etc. all have "gears" that can be added to 35mm lenses...but they are not permanently affixed...wondering if someone has used gears that have been permanently glued to the lenses and what they thought.

I can't figure out why you would want to do this.... I have only used the gears for the indiFOCUS system, and they have a very firm grip on the lens without being permanently affixed. Given that indiFOCUS is the least expensive of the bunch (and that I have never heard complaints about other lens gears), I would assume that Redrock, Zacuto, et al work great too.

If you permanently fix the gears to your lenses, you cut down on your resale market big-time.

RE: the indifocus gears. I just received my Indifocus and gears in the mail.

Do I simply screw down the gears until they are tight over the lens barrel?

The screws look like they might mark/scratch my lens. Is this the case?

The lens should have a rubbery grip, if you screw it down onto this, it wont mark the lens and it will get a better grip....
