Gearnex Geared Head

Anyone have one of these yet?

I'm thinking of getting one to use with my Red One once the demand eases up a bit and you don't have to wait forever between paying and receiving.

I don't own one, but I was able to convince Bret Allen (the inventor/developer) to come to our school and give a demo with the production model.

It's nice. Solid. I want one.

There's nothing else in it's class. I've been waiting years for someone to fill this niche.

How many speeds is this - there is precious little information on their site. I'm an Arrihead user, so I'm hoping for three speeds?

Hi guys,

I am one of the owners of CineToys that makes the GearNex geared head. It has 2 speeds in tilt and 2 speeds plus a neutral in pan mode. It is capable of a 75lbs payload. It can be mounted on a Mitchell mount, 100mm and 150mm tripod.

We just delivered our first Demo unit Thursday to FilmTools in Los Angeles. If you are near there and want to play with it, stop by.

We are starting to deliver worldwide, so you will hopefully have a chance soon to play with it in your major cities.

This is designed for the HVX/HPX also. The unit pricing at NAB was pre-order only. If you see the benefits of a geared head, I think you would understand the price. If we made it any cheaper we would sacrifice the quality, precision and longevity. It is actually an investment that should not be outdated like so many other things you need to invest in. I hope that helps.
