Geardear Firestore Cage and Backpack

Received the geardear Firestore cage and backpack today. Really lightweight and sturdy. I hope that the second box containing the mattebox and rails has not been lost and will hopefully come soon. The material feels quite sturdy and I'm looking forward to testing the whole system.

OK... here are some pix of backpack and Firestore cage mounted on Zacuto rods and plate with Zacuto (Petroff) mattebox. I still await the geardear rig. It should be much lighter than the Zacuto and will hopefully do the job even for run and gun outdoor work where I need both light control and something to hold polarizer.

I have the geardear matte box, I think you will be very happy, it's a great design and has nothing to envy to more expensive brands.

Been looking on the Geardear site for the firestore cage and backpack - can't seem to find them. Do you know where they are and how much they costs? Also Ned, saw the battery mounted on your rails (Tekkeon MP3400). Looks good. You mention on Cow that the tip is suitable for the FS-100. Does it comes with? Or do you have to order seperately? Appreciate any info,
Dale

weight?

weight?

How much do baseplate, rods, backpack and cage (I guess this is what you need for FS100?) weight?
Is it well balanced handheld on the handle?

Do I really need the cage to attach the FS100 to the backpack?

I have not actually weighed the rig, particularly since I currently do not have the geardear baseplate and rails. I have the Zacuto baseplate which is quite heavy. It balances nicely on my tripod. I have not had the opportunity to try it hand-held or on my DVRig Pro. I'll be getting a DV MultiRig in a few weeks and will test on that as well.

The Tekkeon tip which works on the Firestore comes standard with the Tekkeon. You just have to experiment until you find the one that fits.

As I said on another thread, now that I have the mattebox I'll be doing more testing.

The packpack was $75 and the cage was $60.

New to the HVX and Firestore and trying to figure ways to mount it. What options are available? I need the Firestore to be solid and functional - not getting P2 cards.

I also noticed your discussion about the matte box, not Chroziel? What else is out there?

Geardear is the product I am currently playing with. You might also look at the Hyson... www.hysonfilms.com. Not released yet. Then there is Vocas, which is the OEM for the Century. Lots of options. You can attach the Firestore to rods using the geardear rig as pictured. You can also get a Jimmybox (www.jimmybox.com) or the Bebob Firestore holder. BenB has reviewed the Bebob on the board here.
