Gear Odor

I've purchased a lot of gear over the years but this is a first. I bought an open box camcorder on eBay from a reputable seller and the box it came it plus everything in it smelled like it was all doused in perfume or an industrial strength scent of some kind.

I took everything out, opened it up, set it outside, even put it in a closed garbage bag with baking soda overnight, and the scent is just not going away.

Any ideas?
 
You could always try wiping it down with isopropyl alcohol, 91% or higher (I would avoid the screen if possible, could damage it).

When I worked for a university, our department had our own mascot suit (so we didn't have to pay the athletics dept to use theirs and their guy) but the head of the suit would smell so bad from sweat. We sprayed the cheapest vodka you could buy into the head and that always seemed to work.
