Garden State film style

Hey,
in the movie Garden State w/ Zach Braff.
They use a lot of wide angle lens and wide shots in small places

I'm trying to reproduce the same look. I have a 35mm adpater
My widest lens is 28mm and I want to know how wide can you get without
distorting the image too much ?

Anyone know this ?

thanks

It will depend on the actual piece of glass you are using. If you find a really good 18mm you won't have any distortion, it'll be pricey. It'll be REALLY expensive (and you'll have to hunt) you MIGHT be able to find a square 16mm lens. Otherwise plan on 20mm as your widest square imaging lens, a really square one won't be cheap either. Hell, square wides are always expensive. Of course primes will generally be better than zooms. Good luck.

Garden State is a lot of fun. But I don't think they really went that wide. 28mm is probably just fine for your project.

I.
