Garageband audio peaking issue

Hey all,
I literally just started using garageband two days ago for the first time to score a short I edited in FCP. My problem is that my audio peaks consistently and the result is a crackle. How can i fix this without laying the track down again?

btw im basically a tard with garageband.
 
Bringing down the levels of your instruments doesn't help any? Perhaps someone else that actually knows Garageband will have more helpful advice. I've only used it once and it didn't go too well. :)
 
Are the audio meters in garageband peaking or are you just hearing the distortion in your headphones/speakers?
 
It was garageband not my headphones. I just had to give up and lower the volumes. I didn't want to though :(
