Gamma in FCP7

It's been discussed to death, but I can't seem to find the exact answer.

I'm editing my demo reel in FCP7, but am not an editor. Everything I bring into FCP tends to look much darker than what it really is. I'm assuming FCP is being a gamma nazi and doing something to my footage. How do I turn this off, or choose my gamma? Everything is playing back dark and my shadows are all compressed.

Help a cameraman, please!

Hi Ryan I wrote a bunch of stuff about turning off prores auto gamma and setting quicktime prefs to be compatible to fcp , hope it helps you

also snow leopard changed apple gamma from 1.8 to 2.2

I'm running 10.5.8, which I don't think is snow leopard... just regular leopard.

Edit: Did everything that link said, but when I hit advanced there was not a gamma option. Hmmmmm;

10.5.8 is leopard and should be 1.8 gamma so you are lucky there

so you FCP 7 sequence settings does not have an Advanced button underneath when prores is the timeline codec? can you post a screenshot?

It does have an advanced button but not gamma. I guess I'll post a pic
