Gamma in FCP vs. Quicktime

Hi,
When I open files in FCP they are darker than when I open in QT. This is also true when I'm using the P2 import window (it is lighter here, and then darker when the files get openned in FCP). How do I get FCP to display the right gamma/contrast/brightness, etc.
thanks.

read my thread:

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=100185&highlight=gamma

my monitor is set to gamma 2.2 but final cut thinks that it is set to 1.8 mac standart and therefore final cut preview shows it darker to give a preview of what it should look like on a 2.2 tv. but because my monitor is set to 2.2 tv gamma final cut shows it darker than it really is, forcing me to add 1.2 gamma in the end to achieve the same gamma on the tv.

jihaaaa... i am sooooo happy... :)

i changed the gamma correction in playback menue (system settings) from precise to approximation and now the canvas window looks exactly like the final dvd in vlc.

now i can work with 2.2 gamma in final cut.

You are the man! I don't really understand why it worked, but I think it did. It is strange to take something off of "accurate" and move it to "approximate" in order to make it more accurate! ha!
thanks.
