Game of Thrones Shutter Angle

Hello everyone,
I was watching the Day in the Life of HBO Game of Thrones Season 5 and saw their Alexa's are shooting at 172.8 Degree Shutter Angle. Is there a reason for this over a 180 Degree Shutter Angle? Is it better for panning, slightly smoothing it out?

Sorry if this has been covered before! I am intrigued.

Thanks,
Chris

I was reading in another thread the 172.8 Shutter Angle prevents the 50hz flicker in European powered lights. At 180, it shows the flicker. That could be one reason.

Just to note, that works because a shutter angle of 172.8 at 24 fps would be equivalent to a shutter speed of 1/50. If they were shooting 25 fps, they would use a shutter angle of 180.
