Gadget of the decade.

In the UK, we have a tv show that every week seems to test tvs and consumer stills cameras. As we approach the end of the decade, they are doing a gadget of the decade piece, and on the list for cameras is the Sony Z1.

Would be great if a proper revolutionary workhorse camera like the Z1 won this, over those stupid plastic consumer bits of tat like that bendy tripod thing.

Here is the link,

I think everyone should vote for the Z1. :-D

Even if it dosn't have an interchangeable lens system like the site says, its still the best one on the list.

Windows Movie Maker is on that list!?! I mean sure I'm used to high end professional editing programs, but come on! Anytime I've tried Movie Maker, I've just felt stupid and been met with frustration. Sure I could use it just fine, but the limitations it has are ridiculous.

Thats why its important to vote for the Z1. I thought you could suggest your own gadgets, but we just got to make do with this list.

Personaly I think the Hocus Focus is pretty useful. :-D

I don't know, I hated the Z1. I was forced to use it for a year before the 200 hit. Interlaced only, terrible LCD, not impressive codec, weird menu interface and it was a slow camera that needed a ton of light to look good.

My nomination would be either the original DVX100 (Cine Gamma, 24p or 480i and built-in fake anamorphic) in the day of $70,000.00 Betacams OR I have to add my vote for the HVX200. I mean, it used solid state high tech media, 4:2:2 codec that was previously only available on a $75k camera, both were more groundbreaking in my mind than the Z1.

But since we are limited, I will still vote for the Z1 because in a way, it was somewhat innovative.

THE DVX100-24p

It's set the standard for what the new filmmaker is looking for and started a chain reaction of new filmmakers.

The Sony HC-1 they claim is the first affordable HD camera!? Maybe they're right, but I thought it was the HV20... I mean everyone was applauding the HV20 because it was HD, it matched professional cameras, AND people could actually afford it. When the HV20 came out people were applauding also for it being the first affordable HD cam. So I'm confused...

This is probably one of the worse (best of the decade) lists I've ever seen. Not that I've seen others, but it feels like whomever made this list doesn't really know anything about this stuff.

EDIT: Also, like the others, what about the DVX!?! Or the HVX!?! I mean sure we may be a bit biased because were on the DVXuser boards, but that's not what this forum is for anymore. The DVX was so popular and so good that these boards became a great filmmaking ressource, not just for DVX users.

It´s the Flip.

They sold more cameras than anyone else in the business and dominating the market.

Disclaimer: This is no sick joke!
