I will buy a Power MAc G5 dual 2 Ghz.
What do yuou think about perfomances with FCP 5, Motion 2 ( and later FCS2) with HDV on this machine?
The Mac will have 2,5 Gb ram and ATI 9600 (128 mb) and Tiger.
We run a pretty similar configuartion on one of the boxes here right now. Your performance will be fine. It will be stable and reasonably okay to work with. But being that you'll be going with a PPC machine rather an Intel, you will see subpar speeds in rendering. Our Intel towers smoke the PPCs in rendering. But otherwise, for the strict edit, output and the like the PPCs are holding up just fine still.
I had the exact same setup, but with a better graphics card. I couldn't stomach the nasty rendering and encoding times, so I just upgraded to Mac Pro 3 Ghz. The difference is pretty significant.
If you are a patient, patient person then the G5 will work.
