Can anyone tell me where i can find 512mb of ram for a G5 thats cheap but reliable? (i know those 2 words dont go together)
Any brand suggestions? I know apple charges way to much if i buy it from them, so can anyone hook me up with a few links or suggestions?

I just bought two sticks of RAM (2 512mb) from Crucial for $112 for the pair, with shipping. Don't forget that the G5 has to have RAM added in pairs... Crucial is good, and it came in 2 days.
 
Ok so crusial looks really good.
But i have some more questions
.
1- i have 512mb and i want to up it to 1gig, so i have to buy 2 256mb cards to do it? I cant buy a single 512mb card?

2-Question might be stupid, but does apple charge tax on thier web site? like if i buy another G5 for 1999.99, will they charge tax?

this is pretty much OT, but what do you think?

seems pretty standard to receive computer and video equipment in 2-4 days?

I'm just ticked that a drive enclosure I ordered on Tuesday will take ONE WEEK. of course, it is out with UPS now, so they can't change the shipping and now I am stuck. I was told during the sales call over the phone it normally takes 3-4 days--so I didn't ask for "expedited" delivery... memorial day holiday pushed it all over one extra day.

meanwhile, the rest of the parts that go together from other retailers have already arrived, some with free shipping.

A single unmatched RAM module might work, but the official answer is that they must be installed in pairs. This is because the G5 has a dual channel memory architecture, which relies on having pairs of memory modules to improve performance (slightly).

the web site should only allow you to purchase a options that fit in your machine. if you have a question about g5s, just call them. their numbers will be on the web site and they are very helpful. don't think there will be tax, but just do a mock order on the web site and take it to the point where you would give your financial info and you will be able to tell.
