G5 as Raid Tower?

I have a G5 that sits idly in the corner of my office. I know it is not really worth anything. But I came to the realization I could use it as a server tower. It has an expanded internal rack for 5 hard drives, and an esata card in it. What I would love to do is two fold. Pick up 4 2TB hard drives for it, a gigabit ehternet card, and figure out a way to get both ethernet out to my router, and one esata line out to my new tower to act as a raided server.
Does this make sense, and is it possible? What would the drawbacks to this be?
Love to hear your thoughts.

I think you'd run into some PowerPC vs. Intel compatibility issues. I'd make it a home media server, i.e. jukebox. Not for production.

Well it depends- if you mean to play back video content- that could be an issue. If you mean to act like a web server- less so. Bottom line as I'm sorry to say- not much good to your present day workflow. But don't let me stop you from experimenting.

I appreciate the thoughts. I was thinking more server than playback. Get some form of use out of the thing.

I'll have $100 in a few weeks. I'll buy it from you. I can do Photoshop on it and rig it out.
