G35 or M2?

I haven't used either. This is just what I've picked up from others who have.

1) The Redrockmicro M2 is shipping. The Cinemek G35 is not.

2) There are subjective differences between both images. View some sample footage on their sites, and see which tradeoffs would suit your needs best.

3) I believe, the M2 will have available accessories (follow-focus, mattebox etc)

4) Similar pricing, I believe.

5) I think they now use similar designs, but am not sure. I thought the M2 used a rotating GG, whereas the G35 used an oscillating one. But the G35 may have been since re-designed?

The G35 was recently redesigned to use a rotating GG...

Also, the people at Cinemek (the makers of the G35) have pretty consistantly missed deadlines for information and availability of their product. If you're looking to get something right away, you might want to look at the Redrock Micro.

It spins around in a circle, like a compact disc (CD) or record. As opposed to vibrating (oscillating in place) or being static (just standing there).

By the way, GG stands for "Ground Glass." It is the media which the image from the lens is projected onto, that the camera's CCD's record. So, you are basically filming a projected image, when you use a 35mm adaptor. The quality of the adaptor, is related to the quality of the GG used.

Some adaptors use low-quality GG's that are static. Others use very high-quality GG's that rotate or vibrate. There are all kinds of designs in between. Check the DIY section for ideas if you want to build one yourself.
