G35 HD Sample Discussion

Ok... No one is talking about this yet, so I'll get the ball rolling.

I just watched Jonathan's HD G35 sample clip (running man).

I have to say, I'm genuinely impressed. A few things though...

What I would like to see:

- Less compressed clip. The running man clip is like 2 /12 minutes of 720p footage, compressed to a little over 600 MB. I would love see a less compressed shorter duration clip.

- 1080p please :)

- Uncompressed frame grabs of res charts.

One thing that I sorta caught, but I can't be totally sure of though is some softness in the images corners. Again, I thought I saw some corner edge sharpness issues, but I can't be sure till I see a properly shot res chart.

As for the big grain issue... as of right now I don't think it will be an issue. It's hard for me to tell if I'm seeing compression artifacts or grain, but it certainly wasn't anything leaping into my face like other static adapters show in HD. I'm leaning towards compression simply because its a subtle changing pattern.

Again, Congrats on the adapter! I'm already thinking I might buy one for my Andromeda (imagine what a killer/exotic system that will be).

Can't very well discuss somethin' that most of us haven't seen. LoL. Upload that sucker. Shoudl be PUBLIC.

Actually, I reread his email and it says:
"you are welcome to host it on a mirror if you would like. That would be great actually."

I ASSUME that means you can post a link to it once you upload it.
But we should probably wait to hear from him directly.
 
Yes, guys I know... but I thought I'd post my thoughts anyways. He never said anything about being able to post a link on a public forum, and so far he's only emailed the link... I'm just being careful and respectful.

What did you think of the footage Luis?
 
I would go ahead and start uploading it to your server seeing as it will take a while.
That way once you get permission you can post a link.

I will mirror it on my server as well, once we have Jonathan's 'okay,' obviously.
 
I think I'll be OK with my site, I have a pretty good chunk of bandwidth that I barely ever tap into (100 GB of storage too).

Yup, just checked - "filmed on an HVX200 and Nikon Zooms and primes, of which are 14mm prime 17-35, 28-70."
 
OK Guys, an update...

I double checked my sites bandwidth...

1,000,000.00 MB

On average I use only 0.5% of that each month....

FTP Says "7%"

Oh you can believe I'll be monitoring my bandwidth once I post the link... This footage has been anticipated by THOUSANDS of people for years.... LOL I'll cut it off at a certain point, otherwise I get a big fat bill....
