Oooh, sweet!

At Telluride one of the Apple guys was using a Lacie Little Big Disk (same basic concept, two RAIDed laptop drives in an FW800 enclosure) and he just loved it.

WoW-$694 for the 320 Little Big Disk. The G-Raid is like 500.00. I've had great experiences with both companies' stuff, but almost 700 is too rich for my blood.

Since we talking about Video files, I'll choose G-Raid over Lacie no questions asked...
The Lacie not having a fan really bothered me. Especially with two drives in there. So G-Raid having the fan is a big plus.

Lacie's past reputation for failure is a non-starter for me .

All of my G-tech drives work flawlessly.

I'll be picking one of these up for my powerbook HD editing on the road.

This looks interesting, but is way to expensive for my needs atm...
Do any of you do long term direct recording straight to disc, sth like up to 6h continuously?
Will a normal FW400 Drive with 320GB be enough?
Should I take FW800 drives?
Or should I buy a G-Raid for the recording and only back up on cheaper USB/FW400 drives?
I will have A LOT of footage and will need A LOT of drives...

The G-Raid is From $500 and up to 320GB. I'd assume that the 320GB version is alot more than $500.

I wish one of these companies would make some type of mini RAID 5 with 3 drives. I like the extra data protection you get with RAID 5.

Does anyone know who manufactures the actual drives inside of a G-Tech drive?
