I need help. I can't decide between brand name or not??

It's between this

and this
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...ld_computing_owctb2srt24_0s_24tb_4_x_6tb.html

I can get double the storage for the same price with the major difference being that the OWC is a software raid 5(from what I understand.) All the reviews on both products seem great so it's making the decision harder.

Looking for any insight. Thanks!!

I have and use the Thunderbay IV and love it. A tip...get the empty enclosure and fill it with Samsung Pro 2tb or the new 3TB SSDs. They are not that expensive and super speedy. You'll love it.

I have the G-Tech G-Speed Studio R Thunderbolt 2 you linked to, running as RAID5 (the default) with my new MacPro. It's pricey but very good... but be aware that it is not that quiet...listening to it hum away as I'm editing 4K footage at the moment!

No idea if the Thunderbay mentioned would make less noise.

Not that expensive? This one?? - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147440

I was looking into getting the enclosure and drives separate. Although the 24Tb version does come with Seagate Enterprise Drives. Was looking at getting these instead - Western Digital 6TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236970

or would it be better to get these? I honestly don't know the difference??

I just don't think I need the SSD speed at this point. The heaviest thing I'm working with is 8-bit 4K from a Sony FS5. I currently have a Lacie 5Big that has worked pretty well but has been a little too buggy for my comfort level. (Random beeping when waking from sleep and a few ejects for no reason.)

Good to know on the G-Tech sound. I'm in a cube-land so I pretty much always have headphones on. It's probably not louder that the white noise they're pumping through the ceiling speakers.

With the Samsung units...you just have to hunt. I think they are like 8-900 retail. I purchased mine for about $650 (each) new and sealed on eBay. Super speedy and a lot less expensive than they use to be.
