G Tech Drives starting to fail

Danger: If you've noticed your G Tech drives starting to fail, it's because the company sold a little while back. LaCie was great...until they sold. Then G Tech was the 'drive that never failed'...now they've sold (and my new G Techs have started failing). Any recommendations for the next best external drive?
 
About 10TB of footage on Seagate drives to date with not a lost frame of footage. They are also available everywhere there are big box stores. The 500GB FreeAgent and 1TB FreeAgent Pro are excellent values for the money.

I know more people who have lost (irretrievably) footage on LaCie drives than any other brand. Almost everyone I know has lost something to a LaCie drive.

what you have to understand is that all manufacturers make drives that fail, not a single barand makes a HD that has never failed, now you have some that fail more than others that is a fact, I personally debated back two years ago to either go with G-Tech or with
OWC esata drives going to the mac pro via esata

I went with OWC and have been more than happy with my FCP system
I have 6TB of space from two years to now and knock on wood I had never had one go down
 
Thanks for the lead on another drive to try. My computer repair guy says he's getting more and more G Techs in each week!
 
I read somewhere the percentage of the drives that fail and its somewhere about 2% or 3% from x amount of number a manufacturer makes a year, what a lot of people dont see is that when you think about a company that makes hundred of thousands of drives a year that 3% is actually a lot of people, G techs are everywhere, specially in the high end production suites, I personally think they are too expensive but that is alex talking, happy holidays :)
