G-RAID or Pegasus R4 for editing 4K...advice needed

I'm about to start editing a long format documentary in Premiere Pro CC using 4K footage (for a 1080p finish). I'm hearing a lot about these hard drives:

G_Technology G-RAID

and Pegasus R4:

I'm just not sure which to go with. Does anyone know what those drives' disk speeds are in RAID 0???
(I will of course be backing everything up (daily) on a second 4TB drive)

Thank you in advance.

The 4 drive Pegasus will be faster than the 2 drive G-RAID. Rule of thumb, the more drives you add to a RAID 0 the faster it will be.

Thanks for replying David. A few days ago my Pegasus J4 went dead with 4 x 1TB 7200rpm drives RAIDED 0, no power whatsoever. So I'm wondering whether the Pegasus R4 might not be more reliable than the J4

Something to consider about RAID striping technology: you're increasing the possible chance of failure. Consider a 1TB Seagate hard drive with a .15% failure rate within 1 year of purchase. If you put 4 drives in RAID 0 of that variety, you've increased your possible failure to .6% because in a striped RAID config, if one drive fails, the entire ship sinks. The numbers I used are made up, but it should be considered. Piling up drives in RAID 0 isn't all good. I think it behooves you to have a solution to store your data and also to backup your data as well.

I perform a daily backup of my raid 0 edit drive.

For what it's worth, I have had multiple drive failures using Raid 5 setups where the data was unrecoverable.

Thanks very much everybody for all the feedback. Perhaps the best solution then would be to have two identical but physically separate RAID 0 hard drives whereby I would be backing up not only every day but even after every work session.

I'm thinking RAID 0 for ultimate speed, but provided of course that I would be backing up the RAID 0 drive daily.
