Hello Low Budget Shooters....like me.

If you need a camera mount for a car or any other smooth surface I'de recomend the Gripper 3028.

Aprox $90 US.

This fairly inexpensive car camera mount works great. I've just completed two days of shooting with it and my camera is still in one piece. And the footage looks great.

Two things to consider though...

You can't mount the camera far from the car but you can put it almost anywhere on the car that's smooth.

There's not much protection against a car vibration...but if your car, or the car your shooting is a smooth ride your shots will look super pro.

I know you can put your tripod in your car and save alot of cash but this mount lets you go so much further.

I too own this suction cup mount, but took it a little further:

I supplemented it with a Mini Cardelini clamp on the camera's top handle, and some Table manners clamps and rods connected to two more 4" suction cups. I got all this stuff from FilmTools also.

When I first bought just the Bogen 3028, I didn't feel that it was stable enough, as it had only one point to secure it to the surface. But just like a tripod vs. a monopod, 3 points are much more stable than one. I can drive down the freeway and this thing doesn't move.

I did this spot with it:

I can't recall exactly what it all cost cause I put it together over time, but I know it wasn't really that much. Whatever the 3028 mount was plus the 2-4" suction cup mounts, mini cardelini clamp, 2-8", 2-14", 2-3" table manners rods, and 4 table manners clamps. Those clamps as I recall seemed WAY overpriced. I think they were about the same cost as the suction cups.

Just price it on Filmtools.

Very nice Dpwanab.... I'm thinking I need to upgrade my pre sale copy of iStopMotion and check out the improvements.

My DVX is less than 4 hours old, so it'll prolly be a while before I'm strapping it to the hood of my car, but someday.... :)
