FXplug keeps crashing Final Cut

hey all-

the weirdest thing keeps happening to my computer. every time that i try to apply an effect that's marked as an fxplug in the effects class tab, it crashes final cut 5.1.2. i don't understand why this is happening, since i have magic bullet and other plug-ins that work just fine, but something like desaturate keeps breaking final cut down.

please help.

i just did 'clear default' in the effects tab and that seemed to work, but why? what was going on with the program?

Using FCP Rescue 5 to trash your prefs would have fixed it to. Just a hiccup, upgrade to 5.1.3.

But be careful about upgrading to 5.1.3 if you use Colorista or Automatic Duck. Both companies have posted alerts that their plugins are broken by FCP 5.1.3.
