I have a very easy and simple question. Would a tape shot on the hi-def Sony FX-1 be able to play on a DVX or any or camcorder? Or would I have to put a few hundred down on renting a DV deck?
If it's shot in DV mode it would be playable in any DV device.
If you shot in HDV mode, then no, no DV device will be able to play it at all. Youl would need a Sony HDV camera or deck to be able to play back the footage (note: JVC HDV equipment will not play Sony HDV tapes, so it would have to be Sony equipment).
