FX1 and Premiere Pro 2

I'm sorry I'm double posting but I really didn't know where would the best place to put this. I hope the moderators will take care of this.

Hi,

I was using Aspect Hd to capture the FX1 footage but the demo finished. Now I've been trying to capture HDV footage with premiere but the FX1 doesn't apear in the Sony Device Type. What I do is:
Device control: DV/HDV Device Control
Then I go to options
Video standar: Pal
Device Brand: Sony (I tried with Generic too)
Then on "Device type" the FX1 doesn't apear (I tried standard and alternate1 too)

The weirdest thing is that with these settings I can control the camera via firewire but I don't see anything (black screen). I thought it could be because the camera was in "auto" (DV/HDV) and I set it to HDV but the exact same thing happens.

Aspect HD is very nice but right now I can't afford to spend 400 bucks and I need to be able to edit HDV. Any suggestions?

I hate to say this Rawfa...but with PP2.0 there is native HD but you will need to use a third part plug in (Aspect HD) or capture card (i.e. AJA). It looks like adobe decided on a third party intervention/solution for HD...it seems that camera mfg are developing their own HD format which leads to why adobe went this route...at least thats my opinion.

Sorry, but it looks like you will need to spend $$ to acquire the HD editing function with PP2.0

Man, those guys at adobe have some nerve. If I didn't use After Effects in all of my projects and the workflow between premiere and after effects wasn't so amazing I would change to Vegas.

I'm with ya rawfa.

I really like PP2.0 and the whole suite of products which I just upgraded last month, but they left out two key components (in my opinion) with PP2.0, which are batch rendering and HD compatability.

I can live without HD for a while - don't expect any projects of that nature any time soon and I don't own HD camera...just my 100a. The whole HD thing in general urks me...everyone has their own format...wtf. I understand it but in the end the consumer is the one who gets bent over..

Batch rendering is another story :).

Of coarse if you wanted to edit HDV in Vegas I beleieve you would still need to purchase Cineforms ProspectHD, which I think is the same price as AspectHD.:furious3:

Another issue I have with Premiere Pro 2.0 is a horrible multicam mode. I mean it really is time consuming to set up. In Vegas it takes me about a minute to be ready to edit. Anyhow, other then that I like it.
