FW audio output blues

I monitor audio on my system 2 ways. If I am using my desktop monitor I output through a firebox (via FW) into powered speakers. If I am monitoring on my CRT through my camera via FW, the audio follows that, going to a receiver into stereo speakers. I do this because of the slight lag when I monitor on the CRT.

Earlier today I opened up a sequence to output to tape and could not get the audio to output through the FW into the camera. I checked my settings and cables and tried 3 different cameras. No joy. I popped a tape in the camera and played it, and the connections to the receiver are fine because I could hear that great. Then I noticed on another sequence that the audio would kick in ONLY WHEN it was on a clip with the dark green (full Render) bar. So I tried to render out the sequence, but it was as rendered as it would get I suppose.

The audio files are all intact and when I ouput via compressor it's all groovy. I can monitor through the speakers on the Firebox fine as well. But for some reason I can't monitor audio through my camera via FW. I was able to output it fine through my other system, so the camera and cable are fine.

Did i click something i should not have?

Thanks.

I have to add that in my A/V settings, the Firewire DV option is grayed out for audio, even though I can monitor video that way.

Weird
